All,

In line w/ the recent policy guidance issued to the community in NIH MC

1160-1, this office, in consultation with Building 1, has decided to allow

an exception to the four hour rule contained in Appendix 3 and Appendix 4 of

the aforementioned chapter. Specifically, the Wednesday Afternoon Lecture

Series will be exempt from the four hour minimum requirement. LR ordered

for the informal reception that typically follows the lecture is to be

maintained at an absolute minimum, i.e., pretzels, fruit, coffee, and

cookies. This is the ONLY lecture series that will receive this exemption.

This office is not planning to update the manual chapter so this OFM

Transmittal will serve as the binding policy document.

Please distribute this guidance to all appropriate officials.
