Subject: OFM Transmittal No. 151A - Notification of Foreign Travel (NFT)

- Inclusion of Travel to U.S. Based International Organizations

Importance: High

All,

This serves as a follow up to OFM Transmittal No. 151.

Shortly after issuing OFM Transmittal No. 151, one of the IC's raised a

valid question, the answer to which was not apparent in the OS/OGHA and

subsequent NIH guidance. The question was -- are we to report via the NFT

on-line system, only events where the travel is to the international

organization headquarters or office building in the U.S.? or, are we also to

report travel to events sponsored by that particular international

organization that take place in the U.S.? Thus, I received clarification

from OS staff such that both types of travel scenarios are to be reported.

Typically, these international organization meetings, e.g., PAHO, Unicef,

World Bank, etc. will be held at their respective headquarters/office

building, be it in Washington DC or New York. However, should the PAHO be

sponsoring a meeting that is scheduled to take place in Cincinnati, OH, this

is an example of an event that must be reported via the NFT on-line system.

Again, please make wide distribution of this guidance to your respective

communities.

Thanks,

Joel
