About the Fellowship Pay

The Fellowship Program was established to provide support of financial subsistence to an individual during a period in which the awardee is acquiring research experience or training.  The Program is made up of the Intramural Research Training Award (IRTA), Cancer Research Training Award (CRTA), and Visiting Fellows Programs.  Fellowship awards can only be paid to non-FTE individuals who are considered to be in a training status and who do not already provide service to NIH.  Traineeships are contingent upon submission of acceptable proof of US citizenship, resident alien status, or non-resident alien status with a valid working visa and medical evaluation if applicable.

1099G and 1042S tax forms for the fellows are generated and mailed out by January 31st for the 1099Gs and by March 15th for the 1042S.
